All in all pretty easy to install. The maker was very kind and offered a replacement. Wish I found this first than buying a bunch of anker readers. I will say that I haven’t utilized any of the other media reader functionality of this, so I really cannot speak to that, but the size and the fact that it reads my smartcard without issue makes this a great gadget at a great price. Yes, I am sure most people who are getting this item realize where to look for the information on install but if not, look at MilitaryCAC. Purchased to replace a 12 year old CAC reader that was shorting out.

Getting it to work was a little tricky but I don’t think it was for any reason to do with the card reader itself. XD cards are no longer that popular, but I had a few with photos from my old camera.
I have been using a more traditional style card reader for my military ID but one of my friends always bragged about their compact reader. I am corresponding with support. It looks pretty slick, but more importantly, it’s very fast. I always am needing to get something printed off rreader work so this was a must for unclassified use of course, just incase NSA is reading this.
reafer They have reached out to me nicely, which I greatly appreciate. The cord does not come loose from the USB port, so I am raising the star rating. It has not failed me and does exactly what it is supposed to do.
I read some posting about flimsy plastic or whatever. Transferring files was quick and easy and there was no obvious lag having to use this card reader. Are you dragging it up the side of a mountain or something? Nothing against that other smartcard reader, as it works well, but this one travels easier. reaxer

Another reason I chose this brand was the fact it offered a slot for my old XD cards. It has a light that illuminated when it’s connected and flashes when writing, which is a feature I really like. It’s quite durable for its small size reafer it can easily be packed in anywhere without worrying about a cord.
Worked well on OSX. There’s a problem loading this menu right now. After misplacing my old one I decided to give this one a try and I’ve been very happy with it since I got it! I bought two of them, one for the road and one for home use. No need to install shady readsr, like with other readers.
I’m Air Force and love owning one of these. Stays square to the usb port. I do use this on a Windows computer though for my Mac is still not able to use this device.
Love the covers and that sd card can stay protected. I’m really happy with it. Very nice combination of USB ports and smart card receptical. However, if I had to state a negative, it would be that the item came with no instructions. Use it everyday for my military ID to sign into things and the card reader works great every time and i never have an issue with it.
I nearly lost some very valuable footage I was transferring when it stopped mid-transfer.
